Diabetes Nutritional Health Screen

Type 2 diabetes has become a worldwide epidemic.  It is now the seventh leading cause of death worldwide and a major cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, stroke and lower limb amputation.  And the UK has the fastest growing rate of diabetes in the developing world.

Every two minutes someone will learn that they have the condition – yet it’s thought that nearly another million more people already have type 2 diabetes but are not being diagnosed.

This is an important screen to check for risk of prediabetes and type 2 diabetes. It tests for all the important vitamins, minerals and essential fats that can increase your risk of diabetes. You may not know that both vitamin D and omega 3 essential fatty acids, for example, are crucial nutrients for preventing and treating type 2 diabetes.

This screen also measures those important factors that indicate your risk of prediabetes and diabetes including insulin, HbA1c and hsCRP (high sensitivity C reactive protein, a marker of inflammation) and also checks your cardiovascular health including cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides and VLDL.

Your Consultation

Your 60-minute consultation will be with one of our highly trained and experienced nutritionists who will go through the results with you to ensure you understand what they all mean and recommend any changes in your diet and lifestyle indicated necessary by the results to help you to achieve and maintain optimum health.

You will be sent a nutritional questionnaire ahead of the consultation and this will be reviewed by your nutritionist before your appointment to make the most of the consultation time. They will go through this with you in more detail during your consultation.

On confirmation of the order, our clinic team will send you a test referral form which is to be taken to our recommended laboratory where the blood can be drawn so they can carry out the nutritional test. If you are unable to attend our recommended laboratory, we will work with you to have the blood drawn at a more suitable location. The Diabetes is a dried blood sample which is collected at home.  Our clinic team will arrange your consultation for when the results will arrive back at the clinic.
